Synopsis
Food can be used as a coping strategy to deal with difficult feelings. This can make losing weight a challenge and may lead to low mood and low self-esteem which causes a vicious cycle of eating more and feeling worse.
In this training we will discuss and understand why this occurs and develop skills to help manage the cycle. This training is based on a psychological model of Acceptace and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Outcomes
We will support patients to identify their own traps and triggers around any emotional eating patterns. We will teach skills around expansion to help individuals to accept their emotions rather than dealing with them using food.
We also use mindful eating practices to become more aware and develop skills to have a healthier relationship with food.
Suitable for
Anyone who is worried that they are struggling in their relationship wth food.
